I bought the state plates for boat trailer an utility, $19.00 each. You need to ask for the state plate. While standing in line I read everything in MV and not one word about state license.

Southern Illinois. I have four "small trailer" plates. One big boat, one small home made small boat trailer, one small cargo trailer and one 20' flatbed trailer.

I got one yesterday, greenville DMV, for our utility trailer. Lady in front of us got one also. $25, good for life. Unless it gets changed.
Holding off on the boat, as trying to sell it. Plus, I'd like to weigh it, see if that would put me over the 8000# gross limit for the truck plates.

Called a local grain facility for permission to get some trailer weights. I took both trailers, got weights hooked to the truck ( for these weights I wasn't in the truck), trailer axles only, then dropped the trailers for total trailer weights. Tow vehicle - Nissan Frontier, crew cab, 4wd, 5' bed, 3/4 + fuel, normal stuff I always carry (which is wwaaayyyy to much!) = 4690#'s.
- Our 5X10 tilt trailer and truck - 5450#'s, trailer axle weight of 680#'s, total trailer weight of 760#'s. This includes spare tire, small ammo can tool box on the trailer (full of straps, etc), PT 2X's for a floor, 12" tall metal sides. Normal, ready to be used. This trailer has a 2000# axle.
- Boat with the truck - 7190#'s, trailer axle weight of 2300#'s, total weight of 2500#'s. This is a 1987 Skeeter fiberglass, 17', 115HP, 6" manual jackplate, 21 gallon fuel tank (3/4 full), 4 batteries, spare tire, on-board charger, foot control tm. NO gear, tackle, tools, etc. Not sure of the rated axle weight on this trailer.
