What type of float is that? Also, those are some really beautiful fish!

Not what color line, or what color bait, just real color. Walking into the lake thru the woods, I notice how drab things still seem. Around the lake, you can see things beginning to wake from winter. If you are fortunate to catch a few, that's when you realize you were wrong. There's plenty of color out there this time of year. And we are just out of March.
That crappie was laying in wait under the log in the first picture.

What a nice piece of water. Looks like you tried a variety of baits.

CTPanfisher,
Thill mini stealth float 1 3/4"#2. From what I read these are now discontinued and not available. Great floats, period! New model is called Thill gold medal supreme mini stealth float. I suggest going to ( in-depthoutdoors.com thill mini stealth) and read the post on both.
Bob,
It is a great place. Twenty minute walk in, but does get fished. Sometimes I think it is right along the highway, with all the trash left. Cleaned up Thursday, even took my trimmer in to cut the errant floats and such out of the oak branches. I spend more time there than probably anyone else so I don't mind.
Most of the fish today caught on 1/2 black Creme worm, but did pick up a few gills on that slider. Thought I'd get a crappie on it with that chartreuse color in it.
Pretty fish.....as soon as the flood waters recede I hope to find some with same colors.
Regards

Very pretty fish, makes a man enjoy spring that much more. I’ve always liked watching the hills change their faces as the seasons progress. There may not be leaves and it may not be t shirt warm but still gives me a relaxed, comfortable feeling inside. A nice place to spend time you have there. Also like just taking a seat and watching the other wildlife going through their every day routine that we’re able to see when the leaves are down. Thanks for the share.

MR, Thanks for the site tip to check out the Thill Mini Stealth. I have two different sizes of the old style. Good to know there is a replacement. I hear you about the slob fishermen. I can only imagine what parts of my creek look like after the opening day trout invasion yesterday. Tough to understand that thinking.

Drab scenery is the same for southern NY. and fishing is hit or miss. In two weeks the change in foliage and air temperature will be dramatically different as will fish activity. Used to run out in March but found weather has a lot to do with the bite. Would rather wait until water temp is near 55 degrees for pre-spawn bites, but congrats on your catch.
That paddle tail worked under a float ?
