That’s awesome! I’ve caught my lure before looking for it with a treble hook but never anything like that!

I lead a fairly normal uncomplicated life. not too much out of the ordinary seems to happen to me except for bad things. LOL
But today while I was fishing in Pelahatchie bay at the reservoir probably the most unlikely thing in the world happened.
I have caught six or seven good fish on a pole using live scope and i targeted a particularly good size fish and he hit the jig and when he did it broke my line all the way off at My reel.
I Set that pole down and grabbed another and just went back to fishing as I didn’t want to lose the bite and went through a slow period Where I didn’t catch anything for 30 minutes. I then saw another good size fish that I specifically targeted and got him to bite but these fish were deep and I had a shorter jig pole and had to pull line to the side and I let slack and i felt the fish shake the hook. Well I continue to bring the line up to see if my jib body was OK and I noticed that I have line wrapped around my jig.
Believe it or not and as God as my witness it was my line that I had broke and as I grabbed the line to see if I can retrieve my jig the fish that I hooked was still on there. I pulled him in by hand and he was one of the bigger fish that I caught all day. I wonder what the percentages of that happening are

Awesome story! Some pretty cool and unbelievable things can happen fishing....my son and I were fishing pre spawn on the rez 2 or 3 years ago. He was still to young to care about having a fishing pole just sat there with the dip net wait anxiously for his chance to net one that I brought up to the top of the water. I was upriver on the river ledge and no boats around with no wind...kinda odd already for the rez. Well a big one thumps one of my poles and I set the hook. I told Kemper to "get the net!" I get the big female up to the top of the water and Kemp misses her. She makes a big run down again trying to get off and i told kemp get your net in the water and I will bring her back to the net. He scoops it way down deep in the water and she runs right into it. Once I see he has her in the net I look back at my poles to make sure I don't have a bite. I hear Kemps say dad you caught 2 fish on one hook. I looked and there were 2 big crappie in the net. The 2nd was not hooked....all I can figure is the crappie ran into the net following the fish I had hooked. Kemp spent the rest of the day with the dip net in the water thinking he was gonna catch another fish like that LOL

Great story!
A buddy in my boat caught a bass this summer on a tex rig (worm) and it had a crank bait barely hooked hanging out of its mouth!

Crappiejim that’s an awesome fishing story! I love it and that’s the things that keeps most all of us fishing. That the stories that kids and grownups alike love. I still have to come back home to Mississippi to catch good fish. They are everywhere but I love fishing back home. Mainly to have stories to tell like the one you shared with us. I have been living in South Alabama since 1993. Missed good home fishing ever since. Still purchasing out of state license to fish back home every year.
