Sounds like a great day on the water. I bet it took a couple of minutes to land those bass.
I returned to 8 Mile Creek yesterday (29 DEC) keeping half a limit and returned another 8 or 10 that would have kept plus tossing back 30 plus short Crappie. The fish were still biting very light, but the wind was manageable allowing me to detect a few more. The fish still came off spider rigging 1/16oz jigs with Chartreuse Bobby Garland 10 feet deep in 12 to 18 feet of water. The water was 41 at 9AM and had warmed to 42 by 4PM with visibility of about 18 inches. The other big difference is the baitfish had moved off the bottom and were at 10 feet to the bottom. I found some of the largest and thickest bait schools I've ever seen with a fish finder showing. At times the fish finder showed I was in 10 feet of water for 50 feet when I was actually in 18 feet. I anchored for about an hour and tried casting, but ended up with a mid sized gill nearly every cast. Also caught a dozen bass including a 6 pound and a 5 pounder, crazy fight on a 10 foot jig rod.

that's a rewarding day for sure! WTG!
I’ll say again, you are the man DB. I gotta figure me a way to set up and try spider rigging. Maybe 3or4 poles. Don’t think I could do 6. I’m about to leave and still haven’t decided where I want to go. Lol. I’m Leary of trying to put in there. Not quiet as experienced as you are. Lol

Getting in off County Road 1422 is easy. Dragging the kayak back up the embankment is rough, LOL! There was a guy leaving as I put in with a bucket of Crappie he caught casting on the lake side. Looked like he'd cast out, let it fall to the bottom, then bounce it off the bottom and flutter back down like an injured shad. I'm guessing it's like fishing a bridge and really good when there's a little current, hit or miss the rest of the time. The water is probably 25 or 30 foot within easy casting of the bank and I'm sure there's tons of bait fish, might give it a try.
Way to catchem Ditch!
While I'm sitting at my desk, I can hear the grease sizzling and smell that batter cooking. That looks delicious, Enjoy!
