Central Alabama has a lot of lakes that produce in winter
I am retiring in one year and am looking to spend January- February crappie fishing and am looking for recommendations on what would be a good area to buy a house (or rent) in Alabama that is close to good winter crappie. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you!
North Alabama has the Tennessee river and it's lakes which are all good ,really anywhere in Alabama will be good fishing

North Alabama has it all!
quite country living and the Tennessee river runs right through it . so you have close by fishing and with in a hour or so you have many many other lakes and rivers that produce good quality and quantity fish during that time of year!

All the lakes are good. Some have bigger fish and some have great numbers. All depends on you budget and what style you like to fish.

I would consider moving somewhere that would be about half way between the Tennessee and Coosa Rivers.

I love Logan Martin. I catch crappie from dec to April. Bass fish may June sept oct nov. stay off lake July aug. to hot and to many people playing. Don’t know you budget but check the horizons on Logan Martin in pell city. Three builders building in that neighborhood right now. 220k up depending on what you want and how close to water. Has a club house with pool, boardwalk all along lake with docks come off it you can rent and a boat launch. HOA fees 600 a year.

All the lakes in N AL will provide plenty of good winter fishing opportunities. Can't argue with any of the suggestions here, they're all good. Live in Madison/HSV and can get to them all within 90 minutes or less.
