Glad you made it home with it safely. I agree prevention and grease are your friends.
New boat rant.....
I guess because I work on semi trailers for a living I'm a little hyper sensitive to checking bearings and such, but I said something to the guy the other day when I bought the boat, about hoping the bearings made the 2 1/2 hour drive home. He said "Oh I greased them good, they're good to go." Apparently his good to go and mine aren't the same and I'm lucky I made it back with no incident. I normally take my boat to our shop to work on it, but I decided to tear this one down last night in the barn. One front bearing was completely dry. It had no grease on it at all. All 4 hubs had water in them. Two of the 4 had enough water that the grease was more like mud. Three of the 4 had red grease in them and one had brown grease in it. The one with brown grease was more water than grease. One of the ones with red grease had so much water in it that it looked like Pepto Bismol. All 4 hubs will get a bath in the parts washer, new bearings if the old ones are pitted or the cages are rusty and new seals. Maintenance prevents a lot of problems and grease is your friend.
Ok rant over. LOL
So, if'n you buy a boat, tear down the hubs right quickly because that's what get's you to the ramp and back home.
Glad you made it home with it safely. I agree prevention and grease are your friends.

Good looking boat.I just bought a lowe catfish 20 and love the length. the man I bought it from was around Grenada Miss. and he brought it to florence and I drug it to Tennessee, i think the bearing are fine after 6 hour road trip but will check them this weekend.
