i dont think the joker resembles a crappie magnet bait much at all unless they make a pretty big gaudy 3 legged version i am unaware of .
black crappie have a much smaller mouth than white crappie for the most part . and the main diet of black crappie is far different than many anglers think . they dont just target shad most of their lives here like a white . they consume lots and lots of really tiny things like huge plankton and enormous amounts of ghost shrimp and their kin .
one scientific study I read said that 85 % of the mature black crappie stomach contents was various species of freshwater shrimp .

That’s good to know. I am an obsessive person and I love fishing so I like to over think things when I’m not fishing - thanks!

So tiny tube jigs and jigs like the crappie magnet is the way to go?

I ca get Crappie to bit about any kind of jigs from the various manufacturers. COLOR, presentation, speed of said presentation, depth all play in to the equation. White is my go to color.

Sorry for late reply - how big of fish do you usually get on them? Black or white crappie? Thanks!

No different than any other jig as far as size caught . Most that I catch are white crappie but that is also pretty much anywhere I fish . Blue/white on a pink head is my favorite .

i wouldnt personally use a joker for the average black crappie myself .
its more of a big white crappie bait .
    What makes you believe this?
