Close in taste, I really like white bass.
How do white and largemouth tastes compare? I do not like to eat any bass so far but all my white bass have been released.

I'll eat a white bass. I generally don't eat green trout. White bass tastes more like crappie to me (but with firmer flesh).

I like them. Usually leave the skin on the fillet and put em on the grill or smoker

I've eaten a bunch of White Bass & Black Bass in my lifetime ... and I've found White Bass to be a little more "fishy" tasting than a Black Bass. I've been told that filleting them and removing the "red meat" off the sides will render them less fishy tasting. But, I haven't eaten one in a long, long time (50+yrs), and when I did eat them they were cooked whole (not filleted).

I don't particularly care for the flavor of a largemouth bass, but white bass are delicious, IF you remove the red meat from the filet, I've mixed them in with crappie fillets and nobody ever knows the difference, but in my opinion if you don't remove that red strip, they're not very good, it just makes them have a very strong fishy flavor

Make sure you cut the blood line out of the middle of the fillet and you are in for some good eaten, leave it in and taste fishy!

We've eaten thousands of white bass over the years (with the red streak removed), probably why whey're hard to catch around here these days.
