Sorry for your accident encounter, glad injuries weren't sustained. Material things can be repaired/replaced. Fortunately, life's encounters help bring 1st hand awareness(3rd eye) to our future. Respectfully thinking(hindsight 20/20), maybe a floor dive would have been less risky option. Again, glad you and your pup did well.

    Take care bud

I so hate to hear of this accident, to close!! It is amazing that no one was hurt with the boat coming on top of your boat.
Longlining on a kayak is just like in a boat. I don't throw the lines out as far maybe 30' and stagger three rods 12,10,8 or 10,8,6. The speeds are the same and at time less. If you are paddling it's easy to forget to keep your yak moving while landing a fish but if you have foot peddles it's not a problem.

glad you and the pup were not injured or killed! I had a near miss last May while fishing by myself on Lake Secession. A guy in a bass boat came within about 10' of me at full speed. If his partner hadn't seen me he would have ran over me. After almost sinking my boat from the wake he barely waved at me. My first thought was to go fill his boat full of bullet holes but luckily (for me and him), he had a kid on the boat and I had a change of heart. I loaded my boat after only fishing for an hour and headed home. It almost took the taste of fishing away from me...Nowadays, you better keep your head on a swivel...there are far too many idiots on our waterways.

I guess that it is good that my wife always goes with me. She always is asking if I see a boat coming at us. Sometimes I don't and it has probably saved us some trouble. Glad that no one was hurt.

Boy that's scary. I came within seconds of a similar collisiin. I was anchored off a point on Murray when this run-about-nearly T-boned us. He swerved at the last second and his wake flooded my boat but didn't sink it.
He had dropped something and was digging around on the floor not looking ahead at all.
Glad you and the pup are OK.
