    Update:

Got the Trout Slayer Series rod and their SOS 2lb line. Still waiting on the other stuff and will probably take awhile to get here with the pandemic.

Glad I stumbled across this thread. Last piece in the puzzle is to get some tackle.

I'll be ordering some SOS 2lb test for starters.

Would y'all recommend one of those trout or crappie magnet kits?

Or is there a few colors that tend to work better than others?

I keep several colors on hand, but I use solid red about 95% of the time. Black is good, too.

Alphahawk and others like the bison color a lot.

Of course I use a lot of Bison.....Sow Bug since it came out. You won’t go wrong with the red and black as Disco mentioned.

Get a kit and find out what colors work for you. The green and the chartreuse work well for me, as does the black.

Really dumb question... when you say green and chartreuse, is that two separate grubs or one?

white, pink and red trout magnets work great in Oregon. Black, bison, and oddly chartreuse not so much.

white/red 1 1/2 inch crappie tubes are great under a small weighted float. I use the tubes with a #8 egg hook and sometimes tipped with a Gulp! Maggot.

I’m an idiot. Disregard. Found what I was looking for.

This is a good suggestion; the kits are not expensive and the selection is good - no junk. The color suggestions above all work, depends on the day. You’re heading in the right direction.
