I catch them year around. Caught 39 this past Sunday. I do not use PVC. Waste of money. I only run the line through the noodle itself. Never lost one to a fish. Have caught plenty of 30+ pounders. Water temp was 65 or so out in the middle
Hey y’all. I tried juggin for the first time last year with big detergent jugs and litter jugs and stuff like that. It was a circus. They blew all over the lake and didn’t catch a single fish. Trying noodles with pvc through then this year. Making the tattle tale style with weight in them. My question is, what water temp do y’all start putting jugs out?
Thanks!
Jesse

I am new to jugging also, yesterday was my first time.I made 10 with jumbo noodles and pvc pipe.Well I only caught one about 3 lbs.I was using live crawfish, they just were not biting or didn't want crawfish.
Going to try again next week.will fish a flat letting them drift and follow them with boat using my trolling motor, hope I do better.
what length line do you use?
retired and now i will always fish
1-4 feet is where I catch the most of my fish. As far as bait, the absolute best I’ve come across is red “hot link” sausages soaked in minced garlic for a day. Don’t know it until you try it. Trust me. Set your jugs and get away from them for 30 minutes or so unless you see one tip up.
most of my noodles are 16-20 inches. I didn’t measure. I didn’t order them on amazon and made sure they were heavier duty than the cheap ones at wal mart

I just finished making my first 15 noodles. I think I made my line too long. I have a braided string running off my eye bolt, 6ft to a swivel. Then I’ve got 40 lb mono tied onto that. The mono is about 8 ft. Is this too much? I also put a 1 1/2 oz egg sinker at the top of the mono with a bead and a stopper about 2 in down from the swivel.

Also, I tried it out today... turns out year old shad from the freezer and severely freezer burned shrimp do not make good bait lol. I didn’t even get a bite

My leaders are 12, rather two phathoms. I use big gun jugs. They are like noodle jug with a plank of wood on he bottom. The fish cannot pull these under. It acts like a parachute.
Part of jug fishing is chasing the jug around unless you go with anchored jugs. You have to spend time jug fishing just like any fishing to learn ropes. All the same principles of fishing apply. People think jug fishing is easy, they try it, and find out there's a lot more to it that randomly throwing jugs out.
For me cut bluegill is my favorite, but I can't always get fresh, so I often cure them in a 3:2:1 cure of Borax, sugar and salt. It's the same thing they use out west for salmon egg cures.
Second favorite bait is chicken gizzard. Birds don't have intestines. They have a second stomach. That gizzard is the best bait in my area. This on the list is livers of any kind.
I generally cure all my baits in that 3:2:1 cure mentioned above. That way I can keep bait fresh for about a year.
