Old forgotten lures still work.
I have put my plastics away for now and have just been fishing with a basic fly. I can catch more fish on these without having to change torn plastic. That is unless I get hung and loose it! Doh!
I took a break from tailwater fishing to scout for a couple of hours for crappie since it has been over a month since I last fished seriously for them. I know that they are in the spawning mood.
I found crappie on the new hotels that I put out but they were short, so I went to an old spawning bank and all I got there was one of my pet Drum. I looked at some deeper spots, but the fish showing on graph were probably bass or catfish.
Then onto another area that I know to fish brush in ten feet of water and I did good there for a few minutes. I landed 8 keepers and had 12 short fish today. All fish released today. I have promised my son in law and his friend a crappie trip, and I had to find some fish for sure. I saw several people trolling, something that I refuse to do. Lolol.
Water temp was 62.3 and flow was 109,000 cubic feet per second. After I found biting fish, I changed colors and profiles often in order to find if the fish had a preference. I found one that was red hot. It is an old plastic that I fished with 15-20 years ago and just quit fishing it for some unknown reason. Grin. I bet no one else on the lake is fishing this lure. It is mainly a bluegill/shellcracker lure. Southern Pro Tiny Worm 1.5”.

...never seen (or heard) of a bait-body like that?? Probably why it worked so well! They still available for purchase? Perfect color for chocolate milk and I imagine it puts off some serious 'vibe' when it's moving.
I'm still up in the air on whether to chase crappie or long-beards this weekend.
...and THAT'S a dandy choice to have to make

Pretty fish. I found a pack of those recently when I cleaned out my tackle bag. Mine were same color. Do yours glow, found out mine did when I came in from basement door one night after dark and saw them laying on the bench glowing softly green.

I didn't think you'd have much trouble locating some crappie. I'm sure you have lots of waypoints, hotels, memories and experience to work from whatever the species.
Now, that was the first part of the fishing report... the scouting report. We'll look forward to the second part of the fishing report that I'm sure will be coming soon.

Yes, I have been long lining DK. Please don't disown me!
Good Job by the way.
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.

A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do. You are still my friend even if you did cheat a little and let the boat do the catching. Lolol. I’m still waiting to take you to fish for Stripers. Give me a date so that I won’t promise anyone else. When the crappie spawn is over and the water temps below dams reaches 65, I’ll go back to shellcracker and crappie fishing and I want to make one or two trips below Chickamauga to fish for red breast. I love those fish. One trip at least to the bend down river and fish for spawning spotted bass. I need some for the freezer. Lolol.
