    Default Toothy critters

I took off work yesterday and Brock and I spent all day on the water. We didn’t go with the intentions of hunting crappie. We were hunting toothy fish. We found them. Lots of them. We fished from 7:30-10:00 and ran out of minnows. Went scouting around for a couple hours, got more minnows, then fished from 2:30-4:30. We caught over 60 Sauger but not one big enough to keep. We had a good time. Carolina rigged big minners were the bait of choice. We caught 20 in the last hour.

Too bad there weren't any keepers. That's the best eating fish in the river, IMHO. One of the TN universities used to stock them in the river back in the 80s and I'm guessing they still do. I caught a tagged one back then but don't remember the info that they gave me.

Were you below the dam? If so, what was the water temp.

    Good job on the fish....

You get ready to go, let me know, we'll go in my boat. They are fun to catch on crappie weight tackle. The cloudier and nastier the day, the better it's supposed to be.

I was told that the one in the 2nd picture was a walleye. Can anybody confirm that? It doesn't show up well in the picture but it's bottom fins had a white strip around the edges and it also lacked the big spots like a Sauger.
