I would suggest any unit with side imaging especially if you're a crappie fisherman.
It will shorten the learning curve on all water bodies with pointing out the structure....
However it will require you to learn how to use it....
I am thinking about upgrading my fish finder on my boat...I have a Lowrance X47TX on it now which was what was on it when I bought it. I am looking for recommendations to what is some good options on the market and please tell me why you are recommending it?

Not knowing how you fish or what you need (or want) in a depth finder .... my suggestion would be to go to the Member Sponsor Classifieds and look up the contact info for Brian@BBGmarine ... then PM or call him & tell him :
what your budget is
what type of fishing you do
what you want the depth finder to do for you
Then let him give you some options that cover those factors and stays within your budget.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Take a peek at Raymarine with hypervision. I am by no means a techno wizard and the images are amazing. The realvision 3d when scanning is mind blowing good. Had a Lowrance Hook 2 prior and liked it but this is a whole nother level. I have the Element and the step above is touchscreen.
I still wish I had a boat
