Good looking fish
Starting tomorrow they are calling for 6-10 inches of snow. My spot still has safe ice so i loaded up this morning early and went for some exercise. I drilled twenty holes walked a good bit and caught a nice bunch of crappie. Most were smaller with few nice ones in the mix. I let those go. Took home a meal for us and the birds. This was the first time using my Auger set up.

Bee, how thick does that ice have to be to be called safe or, I guess, what is safe ice? Also, how deep are y'all usually fishing when you're fishing through the ice?
Tell'em I'll be there.huntinslabs, Redge LIKED above post
Here in Michigan 2 1/2-3 inches is safe if it's good solid uniform ice. I like it thicker than that. If you look at his fish finder it says 15.8 ft deep. Either his bait or fish at 9' down.

Nice catch bee. My local ponds aren't really locked up yet. The Crappie spots a little south of me I haven't checked yet but I can't imagine they are even close. Have you had to drive far to find some ice safe for fishing?
I'm I correct that your auger is a clam plate with a drill for Power? Most guys around here use the Milwaukee fuel, yours looks blue does clam paint someone's and call it there's?
Nice looking setup and nice bunch of fish. We've got no ice to speak of yet; had some ponds skimmed over but the warm weather opened them back up. Now with a foot of snow expected, it should chill it all back off again and maybe it will start forming for good. Can't wait to get out on hard water again. Got a new power auger, more poles, more tackle and it's just sitting here waiting! Keep the pictures of your trips coming. Judging by the comments above, I'm not the only one interested in seeing more.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
Great job out on the ice! Yeah.....we've got over a foot of snow coming from now until Tues. morning.
