Another fine freshwater outing Tim. Good job Camryn.

Plate very full this weekend, even though I didn’t have to work. Camryn is staying with us for a couple of weeks while Mom and Dad are in Colorado chasing Elk, no news yet. She’ll be chasing deer in Arkansas week after next, so we took advantage of things and headed out late this morning. Of course we couldn’t leave til we made a pass thru Dunkin for the necessities. That done we dropped off my Queens portion of the spoils and we were on the fishin grounds about 8.
We got all the rods out but didn’t have to wait long for the rods to go off. Couple of small ones, one in the live box, and the 12’ rod doubles over and the drag starts talkin. I told Cam that it was probably a Gar but might be a largemouth. First guess was right and he wasn’t small like most we get bothered by. This one was bigger around than my forearm and wanted no part of being friendly. I need to buy a bigger net cuz the one I have was nowhere close to big enough. Finally got him close and grabbed him with a towel I keep in the boat. Even that took a couple of tries. Lost a jig and had to unwrap the line that was now a mess around his nose. A cameo and back he went.
The wind was stiff enough that I couldn’t run downwind and keep the speed I wanted, probably could have drifted at speed, so we went back and forth on the upwind side of the lake. Worked out good, we had a couple of schools to go through each pass. Saw Pontoon Pappy our doing his normal thing and appeared to be doing quite well with rods bending all the time. Another boat looked familiar but I couldn’t get a name to come to mind so I sat quiet. The cool start to the morning had warmed enough that we were comfortable and able to shed the sweatshirts that were needed early on. And the fish kept coming. The app said that we weren’t going to be busy, but it was dead wrong. The good ones went In the box and then got culled over 5, I didn’t want to clean fish. Still working on the bathroom.
Took a group pic of some of the better visitors before giving them back their freedom. The count was near 40, give or take and at least half would have kept. We threw 12’s back, all the ones in my 4 fish hold were very nice. The company was the best, the fish were cooperative, and the cool temps were a welcome change. The ride back was a little bumpy but we did good going upwind early while it was less windy. Don’t know if there’s and boat time in the schedule for next weekend but I think this will hold me over. Thanks for going along with us, we had a real good day. Look forward to seeing you out one day soon. Til then......Skeet

That was a good day in anybodies book. Don't you just love it when those gars come to play. I had one tangle our lines yesterday also. Thanks for taking us along on your trip.
Sounds like a great day Tim, I really wanted to get out but just had to much to catch up on.
The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"skeetbum thanked you for this post
Good times...nice Cam still gets up early, even if it's to bend your ear for a while...the bonus, however, did sound quite busy
