Hard to beat Thermal underwear. If thickness is a problem I had bought some silk ones that were thin and insulated pretty well
Not for hunting but for work.
My daughter needs some to wear under her work uniform because it gets so cold and the uniforms are thin. Don't need real expensive stuff but I don't know anything about base layers and warmth levels etc. Any recommendations?

My husband and I both like Cuddle Duds under wear, they make all kinds of thicknesses, from a real silky thin to a fleece lined thicker one, and available in light and dark colors. Not sure what retailers are near your area, but here Sam's has them and JCPenneys. I have ordered him some off of Amazon so I know they have them too. They may seem a little pricey but I've had several pairs of the long john ones I wore under my uniform in the military and still using them for fishing 12 yrs later. They last!

Haha...I forgot about cuddle duds. She used to wear those in high school under sports uniforms. Thanks for the reminder!

I've had really good results with the military E.C.W.C.S. fleece base layers. I've learned that if you buy a size or two larger than your normal size, it will breathe a little better, keep you more balanced between hot and cold, and wicks any moisture/sweat away. I've worn a lot of different base layers in my almost 30 years of duck hunting, and of all the different brands and types the E.C.W.C.S. has been the best, and I've thoroughly tested it in single digit weather. Bass Pro Shops sells some under the Redhead brand, I catch it on sale and buy multiple sets to have on hand for multiple-day hunting trips when doing laundry isn't an option. Usually about $15 to $20 for the shirt, and the same for the pants. I wear them too around the farm in the winter. Very good versatile base layer. It's so soft and comfortable that it's nice to wear around the house too.
