Sure is an odd looking lure. Thanks again for taking the time
Ok, Some of you guys got it and SuperDave336 really nailed it. The lure was the Vacuum Bait....now for the rest of the story...
Frank Howe invented the lure and he got a patent on it in 1909. He formed a partnership with Charles Olinger and J.W. Warvel and they incorporated. The Business was in Manchester, Indiana. Business was good for a number of years, baits were being sold as fast as they could be produced. Eventually Franks partners thought they could make more money elsewhere and Franks health was starting to fail and the business folded. Frank then sold his patient and a inventory of parts to the South Bend Bait Company about 1920. South Bends version was a little different as they put some eyes on the bait and they used a different hook attachment that would only let the hooks swing in only one plane. South Bend manufactured and sold the Vacuum lures up into the 40's. I hope you enjoyed todays trivia, I know i did. See ya next Monday Morning.

The Vintage lure is worth a lot...The tin box is worth more than the lure.

Of all the flea markets and antique shops I have been in I have never seen one. It's not a lure one would forget.
