I am not in Texas. For the area I fish a Gray Ghost has been a good one for me
Hey guys,
Im Christian and I just started tying jigs about a month ago. I have had success with a few of my experiments but have literally no idea what a am doing.
Could anybody give me some guidance as far as what colors, sizes, and patterns work best in the fall. I'd like to tie a big batch in preparation
I am in South East Texas and fish mainly from the bank or kayak.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks!
Yes. All of the water I fish is stained
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
Head - 1/32 or 1/16 - any color you want, but I like red or pink
Body - chartreuse chenille
Tail - chartreuse marabou
You can experiment with colors, but a simple chenille body/marabou tail will catch fish anywhere.
If you're just starting out, don't complicate things. Practice tying one style of jig until you can do it blindfolded.

I like a 1/16 or 1/24 white or gray jig. Chartreuse/white is good too. Great starting place and I’ve always had good luck with those.

For fall, I like the black/ chartreuse and Black and grey! I do paint my heads, red, blue. pink or black.

Black/chartreuse, white/chartreuse and gray ghosts are great and seem to work pretty much all over. Silver head, blue body and white tail is another good combo that has worked for me in all seasons.
Something special about catching fish on your own creations - enjoy!!

I don't live that far from you, well it's about 150 miles, but I do know East Texas and SE Texas waters pretty well. I will list a few colors for you and they will be 3 colors, head/body/tail.
Chartreuse/Blue/Chartreuse
Chartreuse/Black/Chartreuse
All Hot Pink
Some seem to work in almost all lakes and here are a couple
Silver/Blue/White (also big clear water colors, but seems to work every place)
Gray Ghost(also big clear water colors, but seems to work every place)
Silver/FL Yellow/FL Blue
A couple pictures to help with my color picks.
Also know all the jigs I am sowing below are 1/32 Oz and what I use in spring. Summer when they go into deeper water I go to a 1/8 and sometimes even a 1/4 Oz jig.
These are my favorites and for me if I can see my jig 3' down in the water, it's clear!
This is a Roadrunner type Gray Ghost which is just a 1/16th Oz jig.
