Looks like a nice one. And bacon sounds good too, yum.
went thru some 2000 plus photos from last week on the 3 cameras I run out at my little woodlot , saw one image of what appears to be a tall 8 I don't think I have seen before .
looks like he visits with 2 does sometimes as well .
he looks to be a pretty tall racked deer and has my attention of course as deer season closes in pretty quickly .
don't think I have seen him before and my bud who sat out playing with the hogs and such in the blind Saturday evening where the photo was taken said he saw a nice 8 ripping trees up to show off for 2 does on my neighbors place .
anyway here are few photos from last week . seems one little piggy is a loner and might just wander in midday all by its lonesome as well .
and it also appears mister big pig who has been gone all summer might have shown back up as well .
and yes my bud did shoot a big ole fat trash panda before we left . seems my ag tax exception requires the elimination of them and hogs as part of the predator control clause .
hope you enjoy the photos

Now you are getting somewhere!! A couple of years will make that a nice wall hanger. Be patient and get rid of them hogs.
sometimes i think its bad thing i like to eat deer . because a decent 8 like that might turn into smoked german sausage if i look to long at it and am in that hungry mode

Deer meat = good

If you like a nice deer on the wall, let him grow a few years. If you care for trophies, shoot him. If you just want meat, shoot a doe. You probably need to thin them anyway.
Just my opinion and everyone has one.
Very pretty buck! He would definitely be a shooter here in Alabama. I don't know how big they can get in your part of Texas? It's all relevant to your area. Most of Alabama anything over 100ins is a good one. There's some places here you can grow them bigger but not many. Good thing is it's your land and your choice

of course he is young and you should let him grow up BUT you don't have enough land to control that so it's a tough call. Can't tell you how many times we would see a good buck with potential and put the gun down and let him go to only know he would cross the fence a while later and her KABOOM and know he is dead. Personally I like to shoot does and ugly bucks with racks with no potential for the meat. Got lucky with a old buck all rut crazy who committed suicide basically and made me shoot him last year when I was really more into catching crappie when the bite was good.
anyway SHOOT those piggies as they need to be eliminated from your area. sure there is a food pantry who would take the meat.
110 inch or a little higher is about what you will see in mature bucks in that area from what i know . once in a great moon you see a 130 ish buck and i mean years apart even on larger ranches , and to be sure i have hunters all around me and only have a little over 40 acres .
not many over 100 inches survive in them parts . i do have an old ten that is still around with a really not so great rack and he looks just like last year . and the young ten looks to me maybe barely legal and a feeder hog and that is real dangerous around there for sure . most bucks there just use my place as a staging area to complete the big circles they roam in .
that part of Texas is known for lots of deer but not really trophy bucks .
a handful of does call it home best i can tell and that's only a few . most of the deer just visit my place .
the other bucks i saw last year for the most part have not shown back up just yet , but we got a stupid high number of acorns this year . i aint trigger happy and will likely shoot mostly hogs anyway , but to be sure a wide tall rack might get busted if i am in one of those moods to bust one
