I went fishing with a friend this weekend and he handed me one of his poles. It was a St. Croix rod with a Quantam smoke reel on it. I told him I really like the reel and asked him how much it was. I was surprised when he said $150. I know there are lot of reels at that price and even much higher but I have never bought any that expensive. The reels of mine I like the best are Shimano Siennas that sell for around $30. I'm going to upgrade a few of mine in the future. What spinning reels do you recommend?

You are using pretty good reels and they when they go bad just get a new one. You can buy 5 siennas for one like your friend is using. I thank I have 6 or 7 siennas and like them.
Presidents and Siennas are my favorites in terms of performance for the cost. I prefer to spend the bulk of the money in a combo towards the rod.
I'm just getting back into spinning after a long absence. Got three new reels recently. Like you, I'm not spending a hundred dollars plus on any reel. two new reels in the past few weeks. Got anew Kastking spinning reel, Centron 3000 and like it really well. About $30 if I remember right. Another is an ultra light Ocuma that cost me $25. Really nice little reel also. Think I also got another recently, can't remember when or what it cost but really like it. Another Ocuma Rox 40. I'm really liking Ocuma rods and reels!
My though on paying $100+ for a reel or rod for that matter is if a reel last's me four or five yers I'm probably ready for a new one anyway. I recently got a few new rod's too off Amazon. Two Berkley Cherrywood and a Berkley Lighting. Lighting was about $35 and I do like it best but the Cherrywoods are pretty nice to, $18 each. If I break one in a car door I won't be out much! I know about car door's, had a kid at home years ago! Kids don't know about car door's!
Have seen a lot of inexpensive reels and rods I just don't care for but always manage to find those I like. My though is even if I get it off the internet, $30 isn't gonna put me in the poor farm if I don't like the rod or reel! I can't imagine paying $100 or more for a rod or reel on the internet and when I get it, don't like it! I look at pretty expensive rods and reels in store's and the frugal side of me wins out every time!

I'm very pleased with my Pflueger President as well.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
