Welcome to the home of the, boat eating, trolling motor busting, prop bending, lower unit smashing, stump filled mud hole called Lake Conway.
Bullet 21xrd Merc 250 Pro xs. "If you think I won"t, Believe me I will"
So, I talked to the guy over at H2O, he gave me some options on what he could/would be able to do. I took the motor apart to diagnose the problem, it turns out the plastic plate that holds the brushes was busted probably causing the magnet to get broken also. I also found out that you can order parts directly from Minn Kota website. So that's what I did, I'll get it put back together when the parts arrive and hopefully give a good report. Thanks guys.
May as well order and install some fresh o-rings while you're at it.
First year I had my new trolling motor I got into some fishing line with it and it cut through one and let some water in.
They are a lot cheaper to order directly from OEM (if you are already ordering parts - shipping is expensive) as opposed to buying a prepackaged "seal kit". I think mine were only like .10c a piece - so I ordered about 3 seal kits worth for the price of 1 prepackaged kit.
I like having extra seals with me. I keep them with my backup prop pins.Sent from my SM-G950U using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app
I don’t understand how people can call a shop and get information on how to repair their equipment and then go somewhere else to buy the parts. That shop can’t survive on giving out free repair tips and information. Just my 2 cents

Well, he didnt give me any repair "tips". I asked about fixing it and he gave me some prices of different scenarios. I thought about it and got a couple of different opinions, then I decided which course of action to take, which was to try to repair it myself. I didn't see much sense in spending the amount of money he quoted me on the motor I have so... This is where I wound up.
I know Minn Kota inside and out, as far as maxxum and edge and fortrex goes, up until I got a Ultrex I did all my own repairs, I fish Lake Conway, so trolling motor repairs I am no stranger to. There is Very little if any part of a Minn Kota maxxum, Fortrex, or edge series I aint rebuilt.
Trolling motor shop in pine bluff
I got all the parts in that I ordered and everything works as it should now. I did receive one part that was broken upon receipt and emailed them about it and had a new one on the way the next day. It was a 5 star shopping experience. If you need parts just go to Minn Kota website and it will direct you from there.

Thanks for the advice. I have only been inside the “head” of a trolling motor to adjust the direct arrow. I hear you can learn how to fix about anything now on YouTube.
