I've got good buys on green carp rods, reels and tackle. Got a bunch of crappie kickers once for like $0.68 a pack bought all they had, haven't used them yet was just greed. Me and Cray caught some 1 bank Minn Kota on board chargers marked down from $89 to $19 once and we didn't buy them. We both kinda regretted that afterwards, oh well it's only a bargain if you need it I reckon. I like Bobby Garland plastics as well, love the stroll'rs just wish the tails were bonded better to the main body.

I went to another Academy today and they were pretty much cleaned out. They did still have some BnM, Crappie Hunter and Academy brand jigging poles. I purchased a new Sienna reel with a missing handle for $5 and a couple of trailer hitch balls for .48
I went on Friday to the Paducah store and was there around 10:00 am. There were several guys there walking around with fishing rods and I picked up a couple of H20 spinning combos to have as extras when friends go fishing with me for $19.00 each. I also scored a Lew's Speed Spool Laser TXS combo for $29.00. As I stood in line the customer service checkout didn't have a line so I proceeded to the lady there. As I started laying my stuff on the counter a guy stepped behind me and said, excuse me you cut in front of my daughter. I apologized and placed the items back in my cart and insisted that they go ahead which they did. After they were finished I proceeded. The lady checking me out said that was a nice thing that I did and said that I did not cut line. She then gave me an additional $10 discount. I love having an Academy sports here during events like this.
Went in this afternoon, all the nice rod and reel combo they had marked down were gone. The only lures left were large bass lures which do not interest me.
I went to the fishing section and found several rods that were marked down to 1/2 price but none were the type I'm interested in buying. I did notice that on the top of several of the fishing aliases were boxes marked "inventoried for February clearance sale".
So they may have a better selection during the next week.
Picked all this up at Academy for just under $30. I feel good about it!!

I actually walked into some of it a few weeks ago. A 8’ BnM Jigging Pole for $8 and some change. 2 Bomber A 1 7/8” for under $3. An ugly 10 rod floor rack for $4.98. Some roadrunners and big bite stuff for cheap. I guess I’ll have to go take a look around again.
Oh, and 2 BnM Little Lucy rods for $1.98 each. I have no idea what to do with them but it was hard to pass up in the moment. When they say ultra light on these,, they really mean it. I might use one for kicks on sand bass so it can feel like a striper and see how long it takes to break.
I need to get 2 small rod setups for my kids. Wish I would have seen the little Lucy ones

Ended up running in there today looking for something that wasn’t on clearance and scored 8 packs of gamakatsu (sp?) hooks for .98/pack when they’re regularly almost $4/pack. Not a big score but I wish they’d had more than 8 packs left. Everything else was all but picked over.

I went yesterday afternoon again. Nothing in the clearance section but I went to the fishing section to see if there was anything there. Nothing was marked on sale but I scanned some rods to see if any were marked down. I found 10' BnM rods scanned as $7.96 each. I then checked the 12' BnM rods and found that they scanned at $17.49 each. Didn't have time to scan other rods but I'm going back there this afternoon.
Especially I heard a store manager tell the fishing section manager to make sure his people were ready, as they were going to have a lot more mark downs starting at 2:00 PM. So I intend to be there to see what is marked down.
I did not buy any of the 10' rods since I have several of that size. I did buy six of the 12' rods to use with spider rigging.
