I like to fly fish in saltwater, and our flies are usually bucktail.

Bucktail has more "body" to it, is tougher (important for toothy species), and is great for baitfish imitations.

Tie this on a jig head, and you'll have a winner!

Saltwater tyers frequently use Krystal Flash in their jigs/flies. For some reason, most freshwater guys don't. It really adds to the fly/jig, IMO. See video above, for example.

Actually I believe most can be used year around, but I also believe most of the year Marabou will out fish others! As for kip tails jigs, just ask anyone down in South Louisiana (really all of that state) what they think about kip tail jigs!

I have been trying my own Crappie Jigs about 40 years

Tried several different things. Artic Fox tails is by far the easiest to tie with and action is great. Give them a try. You're welcome.

I think they all got their place and time to be used.
