So.....I will spend the money and buy the best! Just need to know what that is! Thankyou in advance for any opinions.
Short of a divers suit or your birthday suit. There is no such thing as a dry rain suit. Every opening in the suit is a potential entrance for water. The best option on the water, is a Bimini top that covers a bulk of the boat. This is where a pontoon is best. But the downside to a pontoon is wind which makes boat control a challenge.

If a pontoon isn't an option. I find the next best option is a full length poncho over your rain suit and hip waders. Rain will still leach down your arms every time you raise them above your waist.

Honestly, for me personally. I don't fish in rain when the outside temps are less than 70's. Hyperthermia isn't worth it. Above 70's, t-shirt, shorts, flip flops or water shoes, and poncho over the top.

My vote, bps 200 mph suit. Light weight and newer goretex pro material. Not made for cold weather unless you layer up.

I been following this post carefully. I don't get to get out fishing as much as I want to. Haven't fished as much as I would like to have, but I remember when I was younger and in the service all the miserable times we endured in all types of weather. Which I still had the wet weather suit I had done up for me in Korea...I bought a set, wet weather Bibs and parka at the military clothing store and a couple of poncho liners and took them to a tailor down town and had the liners cut and sewn into each the parka and liner. They blocked the cold wind, kept me reasonably dry and warm. If it got too cold then layer up under it...sure wish I had another set-up like that.

Well if I did it was sent intentional. Our rain suits back then was a rubber impregnated type material intended to go over the M-65 field jacket. It was unlined and with the field jacket a bit cumbersome. That's why I had one I had purchased lined, so when the time came I could turn the unlined one in and still have my lines one...lost over time and two divorces since...BEST RAIN SUIT ON THE MARKET

    Your welcome PawPaw"gene",
But to be completely honest, I looked at it as just a job with benefits, the traveling kind...

I guess I need to proof read a bit better. In post #45 it was supposed to read " Well if I did it wasn't intentional"...sorry for the mistake.

    James,

Korea, wow. I'm not sure what was worse in that arena. The fighting, or the weather. What things would have been like for our soldiers back then if they had some of the quality of gear we have today. Boots, coats, pants. I've been cold, wet, and miserable in my military career but nothing compared to that.

This is it....if you can find one. Gortex parka. If you have an Army Surplus store within driving distance, it'll be worth it. Wore one in 6 hard winters in Germany. Never got wet or cold.Name: 20190102_112439.jpeg
