    to get the rope around the pilling just use ski rope it floats.

    I use 36" aluminum bar clamps from Harbour Freight ($9 when on sale). these will fit almost any pilling and tie the boat off with bungee cords for alittle play when boat traffic passes. If the pilliings are huge just measure them and see if you need a 36" or up to 54". 36" Aluminum Bar Clamp

    I use an o ring screw in the center of my 2x4s and put a heavy duty spring on it and tie the rope to the spring. The boat doesn’t take damage from any strong waves coming by. Works great!!!!!

    In the past I have heard mention of using a 3M glue to attach a a pad eye to the pillar.
