I knew they were flourescent, but I never dreamed of picking one up.
I doubt that many city kids are allowed to hunt scorpions, but them free-roaming country kids really have fun hunting those little buggers. It’s just somethingfun kids do outside at night.
Scorpions fluoresce a beautiful blue-green color at nightwhen you light’em up with a UV flash light? They live under old boards, in woodpiles, under logs, bricks and dead tree bark… they like dry environments better than wet environments. Carefulpicking them up, their stinger packs a punch like red wasp or asps.

The grass withers and the flower fades, but the word of our God shall stand forever.
Got to becareful picking up snakes, turtles and coons… they all bite. And don’t throwrocks or sticks at wild bee hives, might be “killer bees” and they will comeafter you with a vengeance. I still can’t tell the difference between wildhoney bees and “killer bees.”
If you are inthe pasture, always look down at your feet every time you stop walking for amoment, always check and be sure you are not standing on a fire ant nest. Justcommon since and a real good habit to develop.
My Mom wouldtell me to be especially careful picking up turtles because turtles will biteand won’t let go until they hear thunder. Don’t know if that is true but Ibelieved her and was really careful picking them up. A turtle can reallystretch its neck out a long way and they will bite you…a cow can kick sideways too.
Free roaming countrykids just know stuff like this and have learned to be wary in the wild.

Smart Since becomes common since -- I grew up in the Country and have plenty -- My kids grew up in the Big City -- all three of them together could not pour Pxxx out of a boot because their Friends all knew more than their Parents ...
The kids catchbig Bessie bugs under security lights on tall poles in the yard on a warm summer night too.
