I just purchased a couple of the pflugers that bass pro had on sale went with the bigger ones they seam very smothe!
There's been some good discussion in the past on everyone's favorite spinning reels, but it's been a while (unless I missed the post). I am looking to upgrade my equipment before the end of February and am struggling to narrow down what reels I want. Most of my fishing is dock shooting or casting to submerged brush piles. Thanks in advance for any guidance/opinions!

Basically what are you currently using and what type of price point are you looking to shoot for is information needed to offer reasonable informed suggestions. Without knowing your current gear no idea what is going to be an upgrade from that.
IMHO .... your best bet is to get a reel that balances with whatever rod you put it on. And, if cast distance is a major factor, then get a reel that's got a wide spool or "long cast" spool.

Buy the best Daiwa or Shimano you can afford.
About $50 is the phleuger president. Some like , some don’t. I like mine just fine, have 4 of them. What CP said about balance is key.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
For crappie, I have never found a better suited small spinning reel than this little Shimano.

The graphite frame is robust, yet VERY light and rust proof. It has a rear drag, which I consider essential, although you may not. And is switchable, left or right handed. Plus it is unbelievably inexpensive.
I take the silly "trigger finger" attachment off and toss it in the garbage where it belongs, then this is an ideal reel for me.

Sorry, double post.

If your doing a lot of casting the Shimano Quick Fire series is really handy,I've been using them sense the 1990s, the latest onesI've been buying are the Spirex 1000 size, spooled up with 4-6lb Fireline Crystal you can cast about 8 miles...ok maybe not 8,but a long ways.
