    Default Monticello 12-3-18

Nice warm weather but the wind was rough. Our luck ran out today. We did not mark much of anything at any of the places we tried. Started out in the upper end & went all the way down to the boundary markers.

We caught 1 blue cat & about 25 perch. All but 2 perch were real small.

    Not much bird activity today.

Back to wylie in the morning.

Hey Charles I fish beside you this morning. Wasn’t sure it was you so I didn’t get too close. I was in my jonboat. I was in my friends boat the last time I saw you. We caught over 100 perch but only had about 30 big enough to keep. Caught almost all on a jigging spoon I cast. It’s ugly but it worked. Caught a lot of bass to!! Check out the biggest!!Name: IMG_4673.jpg

That's a good looking bass. I tried several different spoons today but nothing worked. We even tried some large shinners for the bass but did not get a hit. That must be a great working spoon. My fishing buddy caught most of our perch on crappie minnows. He got a lot of hits but few hook ups.

Did you mark much of your electronics?

Didn’t mark much, just fished underwater point at the 40’ level and beat the boat. Kept the spoon close to the bottom. The spoon is slender which I think they like. My Bud fished a wide spoon and didn’t do as well, switched to a narrow one and did better. I’ll try to post a picture of the spoon.

Please don’t laugh, didn’t put much effort into the paint!! Rattle Can!! Buddy caught them on one that was not painted. Natural lead.

My co-worker wants to go down there for bass. Any advice you can give me for him PM me please. You can ask anyone they will tell you I don't fish for bass. Crappies and perch are my bad habit!

Tough day for one boat, good for the other. Most baits are designed to catch fishermen, the fishes desires are usually much different than the desires of the one casting the bait. A good looking lure is one that is productive, not one that is pretty. Nice bass, and perch catch.

Fish Deep and downsize the bait. I’m perch fishing and catching bass but if I was bass fishing I’d release 100 perch to catch the bass I’m catching.

I'll tell him what you said! He won 3rd place in a charity tournament Sat on Wylie and was tickled he finally got something for the effort. He's like us just glad to go fishing.
