You are going to have to take some really rough sandpaper (40 grit) and rough up the PVC & PEX. Algae will have a hard time getting a grip on the smooth surface. Once it is established further layers will do OK.
It is as the title reads my first build of any cover. I seen some hot and cold water pvc pipe on a new construction job and when i seen it piled up for trash i couldnt have been happier. So i giggled like a girl and gathered it and im about half way done with it now. Any input, ideas to make it better or placement would be super helpful. The branches are held by uncut zipties to add some extra stuff there. When its done i may use left over ties as i did the ones holding branches to fill gaps. Also concidering tieing some real branches to make it wider what do you gentlemen think on that idea? I also hace some short pieces im gonna drill the end and tie them facing up. And btw i hung it from the bottom to build it so its upside down in the pics. Ima use bricks also from the job to weigh it down and toss extra branches with bricks around the area of this or ahouldni make another spot with that idea? And is pvc visible on sonat or should i tweak it to make it more visible. Thanks guys!!!!

Well done and by all means tightly zip tie several hard wood 2-3' long branches to the base. If you have enough thicker PVC pieces left securely attach an "X" to them about 24- 30" each under the weight for added stability and/ or on top of the block/ weight they help to bite into steep sloops.
I really like your Idea with Ty wraps...I kinda like to be not so obious when I set them out..I will have all cut/drilled /numbered if need be assembled on site...Ty raps make that possible..Buy them from Harbor Freight /catch on sale and there real cheap...and the tag ends realy give it something else...
