    Ah yes. Nothing like a summer in basic training at Ft. Jackson. I did it in '96. He earned it. I can guarantee that. Tell him thanks and congratulations!

    My daughter graduated from Basic at Fort Jackson about a year and half ago. Their units laid out a screen of smoke from the trees beyond the parade grounds and stands. Then while the band was playing, the soldiers came marching out of the smoke towards the grandstands. Just awesome! Will never forget that spectacle!

    Congrats to your grandson! He'll make you prouder than you already are.

    Congrats. He should be proud of his accomplishment. Both of my sons are 11 Bravos (Infantry Soldiers). Two of the best days of my life were the days they earned their cords.
