Hey Roy,
They look sharp and very well defined...As usual I am envious looking at your screenshots.
Thanks once again
Went out for a little boating and swimming with the Wife and Grandson yesterday and just had to ride over a couple of brushpiles to look see if anyone was home. No fishing but I took a couple of screenshots with the transducer that came with my Helix 10 Mega SI/DI combo. DI shots look good, most think the Humminbird 2d is not very good but I think these shots look pretty good. Opinions please.

Roy .... yeah, I'm one of "those" that thinks 2d images are "not very good", especially when compared to a DI image. I got spoiled on DI when I went from 2d units to my previous Elite 5DSI unit. Even with the small 5" screen, the DI images were miles ahead of the 2d images I was used to seeing. Now that I'm using a Hook 7 and have both (2d & DI), I still use the full screen on DI. It just makes more sense to me to see a "picture" of what's down there, than a "finger painting" image (as evidenced in your 3 screenshots). And that's especially true in the bottom picture .... where it appears that the 2d cone did not pick up the scattered branches at the far right of the screen.
IMHO .... the 2d images blur the "fish" into the cover, making it hard to determine whether the outer blobs of color are branches or fish ... whereas the DI images show the outline of the cover and separate the fish images (white dots) from the branches.

CrappiePappy, I agree with you on the detail difference between 2d and DI. I use DI all the time as well when vertical jigging. I do find 2d helpful in that I can more easily see fish moving on top of and in the brush and even reacting to my bait. Hoping to move up to a unit with the low Q transducer for the 2d as it covers a more narrow band than traditional 2d and is supposed to be good as well for fish holding tight to the bottom.

Looks great Roy ...
(if that vertical flasher to the right of the 2d pane does not give you needed info - it can be turned off under the Sonar tab = "RTS Window Off") ...

Rickie has good advice. I did not realize how much valuable space the vertical flasher hogged until I turned it off.

Thanks Rickie, I was wondering what I needed to do to turn that off. You're right, valuable restate!
Love it! Great shots Roy! I love using the 2 d watching the bait fall into their face!
