Since you'll be in Vicksburg, I'd consider eagle lake too. It's a big oxbow off the river with good fishing.
My company is sending me to Vicksburg, MS the first full week of March and I was thinking about pulling my boat down to fish Ross Barnett the weekend before and possibly after. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Will be set up to spider rig. I am not looking for GPS coordinates or anyone's honey hole, just some pointers please!
Shoot me a pm closer to your visit and I will help ya out. I live on Pelahatchie bay.

Black/Chartruese, white/chartruese, blue/white, and pink/white are some good colors to have with ya. Good ole naked minner gets their attention, too. They’re usually good and well in prespawn in early March and some may be on beds up the river. The black crappie at least.

It all depends on the weather. They may be on secondary ledges and flats leading to spawning grounds, or still on the main river channel ledges. Like MidMs said the up river fish should be spawning in certain locations.

The Ross Barnett Rez is muddy, muddy, near Pelahatchie creek.
