My boats stay outside in the drive or on the boat lift. I always charge the batts after use, but never leave batts on a "float" charge. It is a safety issue for me. However, when we do go to the lake to visit my boats, I always plug in the chargers. It only takes a few minutes to fully charge. I usually get 4 good years use of my WalMart batts. Not bad for a beginner.

My boat is stored outside year round. I have a solar panel with a charge controller that keeps the batteries fully charged. Haven't had a problem yet.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May the Lord show you his kindness and have mercy on you.
May the Lord watch over you and give you peace.

Onboard charger is the key. Never own a boat without one!
