Looks good. Try some grilled medium rare
One of my long-time taxidermy clients came by the shop earlier this week. He had been to Venice,LA with some friends earlier this year and needed some freezer space for a deer that his girlfriend took and I’m mounting. He walked in with a plastic grocery bag that appeared to be heavy and laid it on my desk. Merry Christmas he said. I looked inside and it contained 3 large vacuum packed pieces of filleted Yellowfin Tuna.
Crappie, panfish, you name it I’ve had for supper all my life. Tuna of any kind is a new experience. He took the time to explain how to cut it up and prepare for the table.
I got one package thawed and realized that one piece of tuna would feed Vicki and I for more than one meal. The client had warned that once it was thawed it would have to be cooked. His preferred cooking method is slow frying until it was white all the way thru in an iron skillet in a small amount of olive oil and butter then blackened. Since I like any fish blackened, this method was fine with me.
I thought it turned out great and this piece was actually from leftovers of the original meal. It’s on an 8 inch plate.
Vicki is now chomping at the bit for me to go to the gulf and catch us a couple hundred pounds for our family. I may have to oblige her.

Good looking meal and sure it tasted good
Looks delicious, blackened, grilled, doesn’t matter to me, it’s all good!!
I'm just glad it's not the cat. I have eaten that a few times, being from Louisiana. Not my favorite, but an okay change. Yours looked good. I actually like it best raw(sashami). I like wahoo seared, very dry.
went on a tuna trip that was fun out of san diego around 10 years ago , 4 days on a large vessel out of baja about 200 miles in the blue water . was very different for sure and quite a story to tell , but the one thing I found out rather quickly was you can have to much tuna when you get home for sure ....
at first it was like you posted YUM ,cooked it the same as you did , second time it was still kinda ok ,third time I started giving it away as fast as I could .....
careful what you wish for ,because you see you can have to much of a good thing
sum kawl me tha outlaw ketchn whalesBillbob thanked you for this post
Looks awesome. Really good grilled rare. Its got more of a beef texture than fish when cooked that way. Marinated mine in orange juice and soy then seasoned with lots of black pepper.
I love blackened tuna, really reminds me of steak

Like Ketchn said. Be careful how much you bring home. It's great but it will go bad before you can eat it all. Same with any fish.
