Simms. I've had them all and Simms is best by far. Most of the popular brands will do fine for one day but if you fish multiple rainy days in a row the Simms will keep you dry. Lightest weight too. They are expensive but I've learned that when it comes to rain gear you get what you pay for.

Another option is Columbia, have owned this jacket with matching pants for 5 yrs. now & has never let me down. Can get rain by the buckets here in Florida during the rainy season & most important can be worn year round. Light weight & can add Thinsulate clothing underneath for colder months, with no bulk. Don't think it's the "best", but simply work's.

Most are not going to pay what Simms cost.....but you are correct.......there is nothing better.....and I’ve tried a lot of them.

Both Gill and Grundens are the best I've ever seen but they're prohibitively expensive unless you catch them on clearance. Every once in a while I'll see a set of Grundens bibs for $100 but you have to look for them. I'm cheap so I went the Army surplus GoreTex route and have had the same woodland camo set for probably 15 years.

They are both great brands....but they don’t approach the price of Simms......you want to talk prohibitively expensive......pants and jacket from Simms is a thousand bucks.....LOL.
