Lake is 12.5 ft high and rising. This is Sarge Creek ramp this afternoon. They just put barricades across it because of debris. Coon is already closed and Washunga is not far behind. Lake is supposed to crest around 1026.00 by Friday, which will be 16 ft high. Catfishing continues to be great. The biggest challenge is finding shad. If you are planning any trips to Kaw in the next week I would call ahead and check ramp access.

Lake is 21 ft high and still rising. All campgrounds and ramps on the north end of the lake are closed until further notice. Only water access as of today on the north end is Pioneer. Not sure about the south end. Still not releasing any water. If you do go out watch the debris it is dangerous.

On the South end, Osage cove ramps are closed, but the McFadden cove ramp remains open. Gates are shut to minimum flow to allow the White River system, and the Mississippi basin to drain below record flood levels.

Found out yesterday they may not get to release any water until May 12th. If that happens and we get more rain next week, we may get close to max flood pool which is 1044 or 34 ft above normal. Looking like no camping again this year on Kaw until late summer. Keystone is 6 ft from their max flood pool and still have over 25,000 cf coming in. They are releasing 15,000 today. Kaw is at 23 ft above normal pool and still has 20,000 cf coming in so may get interesting.

Lake is still 26 ft high with very little water release as of today. Pioneer is still the only ramp access on the north end of the lake. All other ramps and campgrounds still closed and will be for a while. It would surprise me at this point if they get any campgrounds open by July 4th. Catfishing is still ok if you are willing to put out the effort to find shad. That is the biggest challenge. Going to be a lot of disappointed folks this memorial weekend that were going to camp on several lakes across the state. Hopefully they will get the downstream flooding under control and we can start dumping some water soon.

Thanks for the report TimY. I was thinking about heading up there next week to toss out some jugs and rod and reel. May have to grab some shad before I head that way.

Probably better add some length to your main lines on your jugs. Lot of water

Just drove across the Arkansas River in Wichita that feeds Kaw Lake. High, muddy water. The same color of muddy water that is being let go at the dam.
Going to be a boring summer.
