For many years, I've used the same set-up as Anchorman. You can't beat the Hi-Tek system for ease of installation and use, flexibility, sturdiness, and reliability. A set of 8 holders with T-bars and base plates will run you $180 plus shipping. You will never regret this investment. I have 3 sets of 4-holder T-bars (total of 24 rod positions) and 4 pairs of base plates on my deck. That allows me to fish 8 lines up front, 8 lines in the back and 8 lines in the middle. The 4th set of base plates allow the middle and rear fishermen to spread out their lines any way they want. When the crappie quit biting, I adjust a few of the holders to a near-vertical position, break out the heavy trolling rods, and longline for rock. The Hi-Tek holders are sturdy and tough enough to tow water skiers.
