I was talking to the director of LOUISIANA Wildlife and fisheries, he told me they were a Hybrid that the Mississippi wildlife people were raising and stocking in huge numbers in the big 5 lakes that are the bread and butter for fisheries in the state of Mississippi with all the out of state license moneys ,,, the budget that La has is a drop in the bucket compared to Mississippi then he told me of a link that showed the tanker trucks unloading and he also said they were called Magnolia because mississippi s stocking the fish .. the Racing stripe is cool I can not wait to catch a cooler full

Magnolia is a hybrid, but not all black stripes are. More likely than not, we are all catching black striped blacks,

This crappie is a cross between the female white crappie and the male blackstriped black crappie. The blackstriped crappie has a dark stripe from the dorsal fin down the top of the head and mouth to the throat. This is a naturally occurring color variation.
The offspring retain this blackstripe making it easy for biologists to monitor the population after stocking.

But they never get any size. I think that was part of their intended purpose.

All good n proper saying b/c I love to eat em, but being there's a difference in all three, there's a difference in how each are caught. OR their food preferences, habitat, lifestyle...
Actually smoked a cigar with a black sac once while the white sacs sneered at us. Difference between black and white crappie
    Just convo.
    THEN YA EAT EM.
