Jeff, just curious. Not trying to be a butt. If you gonna put them back, why put them in the boat at all. Do you relocate them? Danny

HUMANKIND......be both
The short "D" is to simply take pictures, ya know that saying seeing is believing kinda thing....might inspirer others that haven't been out in a while. For me personally, a record of a good day on the water....right or wrong I'll keep fish for the 1st couple months of the season for friends & family & a 1 bag a month for personal consumption including salt water catches, after that I turn them back. These fish went back in the lake, all swam free with no issues, I have on windy days released fish in the river up stream the lake to take pics, safety wise instead of in a rocking boat...when I 1st moved down here, maybe the second year I caught a 18" fish & ho-hummed I would catch bigger & never took a picture...Kicked myself ever since & am still chasing that fish today...so "D" come out of the cold & bring some of the LA charm down here & we'll see if that Behemoth will surrender...It works for the SAC-A-LAIT doesn't it ?

Good question Danny...Good response Jeff....
I remember the days when these local lakes were producing BIG fish.... I can't explain what I experience when I catch a BIG one.... and to this day, and as many as I've caught, I still act like it was the first fish I ever caught. There have been a ton of posts on CdC with opinions about how to preserve the fisheries for future generations....reduce bag limits....size limitations etc. but those decisions are left to the wildlife management people who probably know a lot more than any of us.
As for me, I keep very few and most of those I give away and I always return the BIG ones... hoping someday I will catch him again and he'll be an inch longer or someone else will experience the thrill I have so many times. There are plenty of 11 to 12" fish for food and heck they're easier to clean and better eating anyway.
