Yea some good information on walleye central about lead core trolling, the dive curves can be hard to figure out so I like to use tadpoles dive curve is much easier
Has anyone tried lead core line for pullin cranks? I was out last year about this time and the fish seemed to be holding around 25 ft. I talked to a guy running lead core and he claimed to be doing well at that depth. Just wondering if others have tried it.

A gun, like any other source of power, is a force for either good or evil, being neither in itself, but dependent upon those who possess it

A lot of our trolling is done 15-20 feet deep. I have heard of people on table rock trolling much deeper!

Well... I've been out three times with lead core. Definitely caught more fish while majority of fish in 20-25 ft range of electronics. Had a great day on Friday with two limits in two hours.

Nice thanks for reporting back and letting us know how it went.

Depth and speed is definitely the key, but I am not at all sure that lead core is the answer. I have found that the only way to know how deep your lures are going takes a LOT of time on the water. There are other ways that are less costly to go deeper. Going to a lighter line is probably the best.
Or you can go to braid, which can be smaller in diameter than lead core, with the plus advantage of no stretch.
Want to go deeper there are Dipsy Divers and other devices. They can be NIGHTMARES. Say you are trolling 4 rigs and pull them over a unexpected tree or sunken wreckage, etc and one gets hung up... Wow, by the time you can get stopped to try and go back to retrieve your $10 diver and your $5 bait... the other 3 are now on the bottom and probably hung up too...
Over deep water, going lighter, 6 -8 lb line, will get you deeper without the hassels.
I have a couple rods rigged with leadcore I intend to try next weekend. I'll let you know how it goes.
