That is a VERY impressive bullhead!
Not thrilled with a fused braid such as Fireline and will usually opt for a softer braid such as Power Pro. 10 and 15lb test lines have a diameter of a 6lb test mono and cast nicely. I always use a mono or fluorocarbon leader of a few feet of 6lb test to allow the best lure action. Nice thing about braid is it sags less on a slow retrieve and therefore creates less slack than plastic lines that weigh far more.So any kind of 10lb Braided Line with Flor Leader will work all right?
Other than braid, Suffix mono 6lb test has done fine for crappie and a 7.5lb catfish caught earlier this year on my light action rod as well as this 1.5lb catfish caught yesterday:

7.5 lb catfish caught in May in a different lake:
6# test, 1/16oz jig and soft plastic lure
2nd catfish - in the afternoon on a different lure; fished weighed almost 3 lbs.
...and I used to think mud cats would only bite live bait !

What would be a best knot to use for 6lb to 4lb, I use the Alberto knot for my 30lb to 20lb line.
I've had good luck with Yo-Zuri co polymer line. I use 12# YZ on Baitcasters, and 4# on my light and ultralight rigs. It's good line, tough, and always stronger than the rating.

I am one that doesn't care to use braid of any kind crappie fishing. I use 4 and 6 lb stren clear or hi vis green.

If you try the "SPIDER HITCH" knot with the Nan-O-Fill, you may not have
as many breakoffs at the knot. I've used it on a couple of 6lb test Nan-O's
and have not had any problems! Try the video below! Dave

Braid destroys brushpiles. Doesn't matter to me if I lose jigs. That's why they make more. Tearing limbs off my brushpiles just to get a .30 jig back isn't worth it to ME. The only time I'll use a braid for panfish is when I'm fishing Lake Erie for yellow perch in 50-60 ft water. It's all open water where the fish just roam the bottom depths in massive schools. No structure on the bottom to get hung up on. I hate when the bass guys find the crappie brush and rip it up with their 60-80 lb braid when they snag their jig and worm in it.
