Wish I could help but I spend more time with my electric motor fishing.
Howdy,
I wanted to see if anyone had any advice about what prop I should buy for my 2003 Skeeter SL190 with a Yamaha V-max 150 HP. I used to have a stainless steel 14.5" x 21 pitch but I destroyed it when I hit a rock so I have been using an aluminum prop which I think might have a 17 pitch which sure goes a lot slower. I was thinking about getting a new stainless steel prop like a Mercury Tempist with the conversion kit which I think has a black hard plastic thing inside that "gives" if you hit a tree which might help prevent bending a prop shaft. One of my questions is does anyone think a 23 pitch prop would still be OK on my boat or should I go with a 21 pitch like I had originally? Sometimes I pull the wife and kids on a wake board so I need a good all around prop. Any advice would be appreciated, wish I had a fishing report but I don't seem to have time to go lately. Thanks again!

What type of rpm's was your 21 pitch running at wide open throttle? If it was close to the max rpm's of your V Max you may be able to turn a 23 and add a little speed. You will lose a little on the hole shot by going up to a 23 which will make it tougher trying to jump on plane while pulling a wake board.

A 21P Tempest Plus likely has more blade surface and rake than your previous 21 depending on what it was, you might turn a few less rpm's with the Tempest but I would think it could be a good choice. Would think a 23 is too tall for most 150's. If you go Tempest make sure it clears the trim tab after installing. Good Luck.

I wouldn't gamble on changing pitch, if you were happy with the performance of a 21.

It's all about the RPMs when choosing a prop. Find the pitch that puts you at your ideal rpm range and you're good to go. Changing props for more speed means less power out of the hole and you rarely get more than a couple mph increase. Stay with your 21 if your rpms were right.
Stay with the 21 pitch so you can still pull the toys, you'll need the low end torque.
