Am I the only one who seems to have little to no luck when using anything artificial? The main things I only get success on are worms and minnows. Any tips/advise from someone on the other end of the spectrum?

Maybe I'm not using them the correct way. When I jig basically I'll cast out then lift my rod up to just past a 45 degree angle then reel the slack.
Looks like you have great success using that lol. Maybe I'm just fishing in the wrong areas with the wrong colors.
I make an order to" Slider " every spring . like them all but always order 100 black 1 inch grubs on every order .
Go to walmart and buy a 10 gallon aquarium. Just the empty base aquarium for $13.97. Fill it full of water and fish in it. Watch how the lure acts in the water, all jigs act different ESPECIALLY with different size jig heads. Try to make each bait look as natural as possible (toss a few minnows in there and watch how they swim if you need to). Remember what it took to make it look good in the tank and head to the water. Tank testing my baits improved my fishing tremendously. Whenever I see someone not having any luck with plastics, 9 times out of 10 they are over working the bait or using too heavy of a jig.
Thanks for the help all, it seems that I just don't give it much practice because when it doesn't work I go straight back to what I'm comfortable with.
rule to live by . the clearer the water the lighter the line . smaller the bait, and more natural the color . Reel slow then slow down . Hope this helps .
