I usually switch to solid colors in muddy water. Stay away from clear/translucent colored jigs. Solid colors include black and white, orange and white, chartreuse, white or pink. I always fish a jig and minnow combo, too.

Down on the bayou where I fish it is muddy 90% of the year. I use jigs that are dark colors with lots of flash. I have been doing well with florescent orange jig head crawfish colored body and lots of red flash the all the other colors mixed in. I pin a cork that I cut down to allow it too pop and make lots of noise. I pop it count to three and pop it again. I will first twitch it a few times then give it a couple of pops and the a twitch or two then let it sit. Sometimes in and area they are spawning I will put my rod tip in the water and swish it back and forth for a second or two then put the jig back in that spot. These are some pics of jig colors and the cork set up I use.

Yes it is. It displaces the water. Just the tip of the cork is visible. When it lands in the water is sinks a few inches the slowly rises to the surface. Finicky fish don't feel any resistance when they take the jig either. I learned this from a 90 year old man that use to tie jigs and make custom jigging poles. The 2 smaller jigs in the pictures are some he tied.

Remember muddy water will warm faster. If is a new muddy water they will relate to wood more,if wood is available.
