Congrats, John and to your partner! (and ya'll beat BRM! )
Colin (SIL) and I fished the MCC Grenada tourney this weekend and had a blast, a class act for sure.
Colin had never spider rigged till Thursday morning but he caught on pretty quick and done very good. Middle of the day we found a little sumpin sumpin different from everything else we had seen and it paid off Saturday morning, persistence was the key as the bite fell off for us about 930, we had 7 but needed a couple more solid fish. By the time the wind really got up out of the South (145ish) we had added a couple solid fish to the box giving us what we believed to be a respectable stringer to weigh-in. My scales in the boat are junk, our big fish was 2.39 and those scales said 1lb 11 ozs, knew we didn't have 14 lbs bet felt sure we had better than 12. We watched the board to see what folks were weighing in and there were some nice stringers but nothing massive, fall tourney weights aren't near like spring weights, with Hugh and Steve leading the way with 15.60, we were no threat to them. When we stepped to the scales I knew that a little over 12 would put us in the money for Colin's first MCC Tourney, when the scales settled it landed on 12.93 squeezing us into the Top 10. It still had not soaked in for him, he had no idea that MCC pays 15 places in most their tourneys and with this one being the largest regular season tourney in history for them, 54 boats, it wold pay all 15. He commented, "Fished all day and got paid to do it!" I explained it sure wasn't always that way, LOL. Needless to say he was excited as was I, 9th place ain't bad when fishing against some of the best in the state and I hope it the first of many for us.
