Man you are some high dollar ppl. All I'm using is what ever
I find on sale and yard sales... and do ok.
But it I'd kind of funny using my 8 ft. Surf rod for crappie..
Tho I do have to us 1 to 2 oz lead to detect bites....
Associated! I don't think you can pass the Remus Blue minnow swimming test to get in this crowd! Might be a good thing you left but you can come back and try. I got in by being the all night Thunder Boomer rolling on the pontoons. They got pads around the boats now!

There seems to be a lot of out of work comedians on Crappie.Com, Any way go to Grizzly Jigs, They have the 10, 12' Slab Daddy rods on sale 4 for $80.00 These ae great poles and are great for trolling, great sensitive tip and back bone. Also they keep good reels for a good price. I use the $25.00 casting reels, They work great.
You are welcome!
I use 6 rods across the back of my boat that are 5/5' to 6' long. Theyre around $15 rods. For outside the boat I use the Limit rods which are 8', 10', and 12' long. As mentioned they can be bought for $15 each. I also have two 14'er s which are an off brand and like the limits, theyre glass rods (heavy) but all are flimsy enough for trolling and the limit rods can double as spider rigging rods. If youre on a budget like me then you'll be well pleased with the limits. Theyre tough too. Honestly, I dont think a more expensive rod will help you catch more fish than the limit rods can catch. Well...that's my 2 cents...

Brett, you are right about that learning how to use them. It is expensive to break the tips off if you try to lift a large crappie out of the water. Most are broken buy being stupid and not paying attention to what you are doing. My sister sat on one of mine one night and broke it off about 5 inches from the tip. To bad it didn't stick in her butt, that's how mad it made me! But I put a new tip on it and it handles an 2 oz weight when we tight line in 50 ftw pretty well. You will get what you need just don't rush into it look around.
First time a striper snatches one of those expensive rods out the back holders the economical rods start looking very appealing.
