I would like to offer one more software upgrade for SI units – add new Side Imaging Screen View Option, which I explained in this slide show video (sorry for not very good quality):
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyHWgXOdwpw
As you could see it took the same 42 seconds and 6 screenshots to pass the same 200ft long lake with 7 sec. pause between shots, and nothing was missed.
Using of full screen width for split screen view of map and normal SI will not bring much help and would have the same disadvantages comparing with Alive Screen shots SI mode:

    1. Side views are moving (not static)
    2. Bottoms are vertical (not horizontal)
    3. Scale of view is almost half less.( Screen shots scale is 1.5-3 times bigger)
    4. Attention is jumping back and forth from left to right view (attention is concentrated on one static view).

Normal SI views are good for seeing big pictures for knowing relative locations of bottom objects, but if you are looking for fish on bottom background or for some small bottom details (sunken motors, victims ets) it isbetter to use Alive Screen shots mode .If to use rotating bracket for sonars and turn it for 90 degree using completely full screen – nothing would be missed at all:

Yes, I did it, but nobody is interested in it. I think the most of users do not realize that existing moving SI view is the same as a dead fax machine sheet creeping out of the slot. Normally nobody is trying to read or to see picture right after slot while the sheets are moving one by one. They put the first sheet in convenient position and watch information, while the second sheet is creeping, then look at the second one and so on.
I offer the same, and this is just a software option.
On can use normal SI and go along the bank, and in 40 seconds see just a football field area on his screen. The other one could use Alive Screen Shots option and during the same 40 seconds watch fish and details on both sides, totally the same area, not missing a single piece of bottom:

Looks like the Option of putting of SI views in horizontal position is very confusing for most of users.
But I am absolutely sure that alive screenshots option could be very helpful.
I think another version of alive screen shots mode is more natural: showing of left and right SI sides screen shots as they are with 5-10 sec interval. It would bring the following advantages:
    1.Side views are static.
2.Screen shots scale is 2 times bigger.
4.Attentionis concentrated on one static view.

One more Option of DI view on Humm units of 1000….300 series for your review. Instead of using existing overlaid DI view, which is made by overlaying of left and right SI views, I offer modified continued DI which is made from the same left and right SI views, but just putting them in train one by one keeping all bottom details and locations:
I took several well known screenshots from internet and added modified continued
DI views made of the same SI views to show how they could look having such software option:

I animated my idea for Adjacent Two Sides Down Imaging for SI units.
It was done by smartphone from computer screen, this why the quality is not good but I think the idea looks quite clear:

Just compare it with existing OverlaidBlended Washed-out One Side DI :

A few screen shots from those videos:
