    The common name (crappie) other names are, croppie, crappé,crapet, papermouths, strawberry bass, speckled bass or specks, white perch,yellow perch, speckled perch, calico bass ,sac-a-lait, "milk bag", Oswego bass and newlight Wow! A lot of names for the one fish but they are probably more names also. A lot of the time I just call them hard to catch.

    Here in NY, these are white and yellow perch. This was a nice day on the ice:

    They taste great, but you have to trim off the "red meat" (fat).
