The dead channel is where the dead fish are, the old channel is where the old fish are and the slack Chennai is where the slackers that are too lazy to bite are found.
Just kidding, all the same and the area you have circled is correct.
Hey everyone I have been reading tons of posts and see people call the area circled in this picture lots of different thing like dead water channel, slack water, old channel etc. When they are talking about this, it is in fact the area I circled here correct? I am just curious more than anything. Seems a lot of people call it a lot of different things.

Give someone a fish and you feed them for a day; teach someone to fish and you feed them for life.

Sow tamer - this is off topic but I couldn't resist. I am afraid your signature line of "Give someone a fish and you feed them for a day; teach someone to fish and you feed them for life" is a little out of date. Now if you give a man a fish and then attempt to teach them to fish the reaction is "What? No more free fish? I'm entitled to my free fish! I demand my free fish!"

I believe the weir is in front of the dam about 300 feet on the Truman side and is a concrete wall under the water.
There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.
You are correct . It is the original river channel before the dam was built.
God bless Charlie Brewer and Bobby Garland.
Here are two pics that show the weir before it was flooded.

I love those old construction photos of the dam. I wish I could find a bunch of photos online of the old river and things right as they were flooding Truman. My dad and Grandad said it was quite a deal. I was born in 75 so I have never seen the lake area any other way.
